A crypto wallet that makes buying, selling and swapping effortless

I inherited a stalled legacy wallet with incomplete exchange and security flows, inconsistent states, and a noisy visual language. As the sole product designer, I defined a calmer cross-platform experience built around task focus, trust, and consistent behavior across iOS, Android, and desktop.

02 / Challenge

Buying crypto felt intimidating - too much noise, too little focus

Pal replaced a legacy wallet that had stalled: Exchange was still a “Coming Soon” placeholder, Security shipped with lorem ipsum, transfers lived in a cramped modal, and red - the colour of loss - drove every primary button. History was a plain text log with no states. Newcomers met noise and dead ends. EPal had to make self-custody calm, obvious and safe - the same way on every device.

03 / RESEARCH & COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS

The legacy wallet and competitor patterns exposed the real product risk

I audited the legacy wallet screen by screen, then benchmarked the leading buy-and-sell products end to end — onboarding, funding, trading and security. I mapped what earned trust, what created friction and where users stalled. The findings set the direction: less on screen, one obvious next step, and identical behaviour across devices.

06   /   DESIGN SYSTEM & FOUNDATIONS

A small, disciplined system built to scale to 130+ screens

One primary blue carries actions and trust; green marks growth; red is reserved for loss and errors — a deliberate correction from the legacy wallet, where red drove every button. Inter, a restrained neutral scale, a shared token icon set and reusable components hold 130+ screens consistent.

07  /   CROSS-PLATFORM PARITY

One product - identical on desktop and mobile

The downloadable desktop app and the native iOS and Android apps are the same product: the same five-step spine, the same components, the same language. Someone who starts on their phone can finish on desktop without relearning a thing. Every flow was designed in parity and handed off for all platforms.

Self-custody made safe - and simple to understand

Security is part of the flow, not a wall in front of it. Setup guides the user through backing up their keys and locking the wallet, in plain language, without ever slowing the core task.

Although I was the only designer, I worked hand in hand with the Product Manager, the Head of the Innovation R&D department and the CEO. Their corrections, advice and comments were folded into the design as it evolved — and carried through into the specifications I handed to the development team for the international rollout.

10   /   DESIGN QA & QUALITY

Design isn’t done when the mockup is - it’s done when the build matches

Across 130+ screens and three platforms, consistency is the first thing to drift: a ticker, a unit, an empty state, a control that behaves differently on mobile. I treated quality as part of the design work rather than a phase after it — every screen shipped with its states defined, and I reviewed the implemented build against the spec before it was called done.

Specs & states

Each screen documented with empty, loading, error and success states, plus the copy for each.

Consistency passes

Recurring sweeps over tickers, units, labels and icons to catch drift across platforms.

Build review

I checked implemented screens against the designs and logged spacing, state and copy defects.

Definition of done

Done meant design, states, copy and the shipped build all agreed — not just a tidy frame.

A stalled legacy wallet became a coherent cross-platform product foundation

The result is a calm, self-custody wallet where buying, selling and swapping take a few clear taps — identical on iOS, Android and desktop. It was delivered to development as a complete, build-ready product for rollout to the international market.
